Online Basic Training Course on Wireless Information System for Emergency Responders (WISER) and the use of Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) for First Responders in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) States Parties

The online basic training on WISER/ERG is an integral part of the capacity building programme in assistance and protection for the Member States in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

This training would be technically supported by the Population Protection Institute of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic.

The training is designed for both civilian and military first responders who are involved in responding to emergencies involving release of CWAs/TICs and on CBRN Emergency preparedness.

The training will also facilitate the exchange of information and experiences regarding the implementation of Article X of the Convention and will provide a forum for the discussion of future cooperation among participating Member States.

Objectives

The course has three main objectives:

  • Use ERG/WISER to identify toxic chemicals and hazardous substances.
  • Determine initial isolation and protective distance plotting and containment.
  • Enhance the awareness of responders in preparing to deal with a chemical incident.
