Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Chile Visits the OPCW

The Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Chile, H.E. Mr Edgardo Riveros, visited the OPCW on 16 April and met with the Director-General, Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü.

During their meeting, the Director-General updated Vice-Minister Riveros on developments related to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), including progress made on eliminating the Syrian chemical weapons programme. The Director-General acknowledged Chile’s strong support and active role in enhancing the implementation of the Convention, including in the Latin American region.

Vice Minister Riveros noted Chile’s firm commitment to the global ban on chemical weapons. He also expressed Chile’s full support for the OPCW in implementing the CWC, as well as the decisions of its policy making organs.
