Minister of State for Security Policy and International Cooperation of Hungary Visits the OPCW

The Minister of State for Security Policy and International Cooperation of Hungary, Dr István Mikola, visited the OPCW today and met with the Director-General, Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü.

During their meeting, the Director-General provided Minister Mikola with information on different OPCW activities including an update on the mission to eliminate the Syrian chemical weapons programme. The Director-General also acknowledged Hungary’s strong support and active role towards implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Minister Mikola commended the OPCW for its success in relation to Syria and its ongoing efforts to eliminate chemical weapons, prevent proliferation and increase State Party preparedness in responding to chemical weapons attacks. The Director-General noted the strong cooperation between the OPCW and Hungary.
