OPCW Director-General Visits Singapore

The OPCW Director-General, Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü, visited Singapore on 12 November 2010 where he had high-level meetings with Foreign Affairs and Customs officials and visited the DSO National Laboratories.

The Director-General called on the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Chee Wee Kiong, and met with the Director-General of Singapore Customs, Mr Fong Yong Kian. The Director-General provided the officials an update on the status of implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and discussed national implementation issues in Singapore. He expressed appreciation for Singapore’s firm commitment to the CWC and support for the work of the OPCW, and was assured of the country’s continuing cooperation.

DSO National Laboratories is Singapore’s national defense research and development institution, with more than 1,000 scientists and engineers.
