On 2 May 2005, H.E. Mr Vuk Drasković, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and Montenegro, visited the headquarters of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.

Foreign Minister Drasković reaffirmed Serbia and Montenegro’s strong commitment to the CWC and reaffirmed his Government’s firm support for the OPCW.
On behalf of the Organisation, Director-General Pfirter expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Serbia and Montenegro for its cooperation with the OPCW and contribution to the effort to achieve the CWC’s universality, in particular Serbia and Montenegro’s support for OPCW activities relating to assistance and protection against the threat or use of chemical weapons, which includes hosting both the second international basic course on assistance and protection, to be held in Kruševac, Serbia and Montenegro from 25 to 29 July 2005, as well as the advanced protection training course that will take place from 7 to 11 November 2005.
Foreign Minister Drasković and Director-General Pfirter also discussed the OPCW’s Action Plan on national implementation and the urgent requirement to ensure that the chemical weapons ban can be implemented effectively and in full by every OPCW Member State. Minister Draskovic indicated his expectation that the additional legislation to be considered by the Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro will be approved before the next Conference of the States Parties to the CWC, to be held from 7 to 11 November 2005.
