Visiting the OPCW

Visitors to the OPCW during Open Day.

At its headquarters in The Hague, the OPCW regularly provides briefings to visiting groups on its mission and work to implement the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Briefings can be tailored to specific areas of interest in relation to the OPCW’s work, and subject to availability, can also be provided in one of the official languages of the Organisation (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Russian).

In addition to receiving a briefing, visiting groups have the opportunity to visit the Ieper Room (the OPCW’s main conference room, where Executive Council meetings are convened) and view the Nobel Peace Prize, which was awarded to the OPCW in 2013 for its extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons.

To arrange a group visit to the OPCW, please follow these steps:

  • Fill out the online request form. Following submission of the request form, you can expect to receive an e-mail response from the OPCW. Should you have any questions regarding your request, please write to the Political Affairs and Protocol Branch at
  • Once your request is confirmed, you will be asked to provide a list of participants (including names and identification/passport numbers) no later than four days before the visit.
  • On the day of visit, all participants must present valid photo identification (passport, driver’s license or national identity card) and arrive ten minutes in advance to allow time for security clearance.
