On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Entry into Force of the Chemical Weapons Convention and the founding of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Mr Vartan Oskanian, sent a message of congratulations to the OPCW and its Director-General, Ambassador Rogelio Pfirter.

“The Republic of Armenia considers the Chemical Weapons Convention to be one of the cornerstones of the global system against proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It ensures that weapons of mass destruction will not be used against nations and peoples of the world nor will they be threatened with their use. It is against this background that we believe that determined and consistent policies to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction must be adopted and pursued by all of us.

This is the time to evaluate what we have accomplished together in the previous ten years and, more importantly, this landmark is an opportunity to launch our future work.”
