H.E. Mr Ivan Lewis, Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, visited the OPCW headquarters on 13 October 2009 and met with the Director-General, Ambassador Rogelio Pfirter.

H.E. Mr Ivan Lewis, Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, visited the OPCW headquarters on 13 October 2009 and met with the Director-General, Ambassador Rogelio Pfirter.

In their meeting the Director-General provided the Minister of State an overview of the status of implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), including the progress being made in the destruction of global chemical weapons stockpiles, and commended the UK for its implementation of the Convention and close cooperation with the OPCW.

Mr Lewis reaffirmed the UK’s firm commitment to the objectives of the CWC, and assured the Director-General of his Government’s continued support for the work of the OPCW and implementation of the global chemical weapons ban.
