International Open Day

International Open Day

Expanding the general public’s understanding of the OPCW and CWC – who we are, what we do, and why it’s important.

Once a year OPCW opens its doors to the general public as part of the International Open Day organised by The Hague Municipality.

Visitors learn about the history of chemical warfare and effects of chemical weapons on humans through interactive expert presentations, art sessions, and a mini-film festival.

Visitors are also invited to try on gear used by OPCW inspectors during field missions, discover how our chemists analyse and identify chemical markers, and even get a photo with OPCW’s 2013 Nobel Peace Prize.

Other activities include internship presentations, a Colours of Peace drawing session for children, and a colouring session for our youngest visitors.

Register to attend through The Hague International Day website.
