Statement from the OPCW Director-General on Recent Allegations of Toxic Chemical Use in Aleppo

Commenting on the recent allegations about the use of toxic chemicals in Aleppo, Syria, the Director-General of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü said: “We are disturbed by the recent allegations of the use of toxic chemicals in Aleppo. Such allegations are taken very seriously by the OPCW. The use of chemical weapons by anyone, anywhere and under any circumstances is unacceptable”.

The OPCW Fact Finding Mission continues its work to establish the facts for all credible allegations of chemical weapons use in Syria and will provide a report for consideration by States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention.
