Office of Strategy and Policy

The Office of Strategy and Policy develops the Technical Secretariat’s strategic planning and provides policy advice to the Director-General and the Secretariat’s management, particularly relating to cross-cutting issues such as education and outreach, counter-terrorism, and science and technology.

In addition, the Office supports the organisational governance of the Secretariat in areas such as knowledge management, results-based management, or risk management.

The Office also supports the chairpersons of the following working groups: Open-ended Working Group for the Preparation of the Fourth Review Conference, Open-ended Working Group on Terrorism, Sub-Working Group on non-State actors, and Open-Ended Working Group on the Future Priorities of the OPCW.

The Office further serves as the secretariat to the Advisory Board on Education and Outreach and to the Scientific Advisory Board, and acts as the focal point for the OPCW’s cooperation with the global chemical industry regarding implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
