Special Alumni Bulletin on the Associate Programme

Friday, 22 January 2016

The International Cooperation Branch of OPCW’s Technical Secretariat has launched today a periodic Alumni Bulletin, with a view to share updates on its programmes and activities.

The first edition of the Bulletin is dedicated to the Associate Programme – the flagship capacity-building programme of the OPCW. The publication highlights the most relevant updates recorded by the Programme in 2015, including through its alumni and partners.

The Bulletin appears as the Associate Programme is reaching new milestones in the 16 years of its implementation. Nearly 400 experts from 116 Member States have been trained so far, while more than 120 chemical industries in Europe, Asia and Latin America have supported the Programme.

The Associate Programme, which takes the form of 9 to 10-week training course, aims to develop a better understanding of the Chemical Weapons Convention and to promote peaceful uses of chemistry. It also provides a valuable opportunity to scientists and engineers from countries whose economies are either developing or in transition, to obtain knowledge of practices in the modern chemical industry. The 17th edition of the Programme is scheduled from 29 July to 30 September 2016.

The Associate Programme Bulletin is available here:
