Secretary General of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Visits the OPCW

The Secretary-General of the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Wegger Strømmen, today met the Director-General, Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü at the OPCW Headquarters in The Hague.

Mr. Strømmen and the Director-General discussed a range of issues related to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention. Director-General also briefed him on OPCW’s mission to eliminate the Syrian chemical weapons programme and discussed other initiatives undertaken by the OPCW in the areas of national implementation, international cooperation, and assistance and protection.

The Director-General expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. Strømmen for Norway’s valuable support of OPCW activities, in particular their in-kind and financial contributions to the elimination of the Syrian chemical weapons program.
