The Government of Switzerland and the OPCW jointly organized the fourth edition of the advanced training course on protection against chemical weapons, held from 16 to 20 February 2015 at the SWISSINT Training Centre of the Swiss Armed Forces in Stans. Nineteen participants from 14 States Parties to the CWC attended the Training Program*.

The course is a part of the training package that Switzerland has developed and has been offering to the OPCW since 1997, comprising gfour programme points: Swiss Basic, Swiss Lab, Swiss Advance and Swiss Exercise. All the course are in sequence and its required the attendance of the Swiss Basic to apply to Swiss Lab or Swiss Advance and need to have attended Swiss Advance or Lab to attend Swiss Exercise.

The main purpose of the course is to assist other Member States in their efforts to establish a basic protection capability that will directly benefit their civilian populations.  The course, which draws on Switzerland’s extensive experience in this area, is intended for specialists who have completed the Basic course and are, or who will be, associated with the training of civilians in their home countries in protection against chemical weapons.
