H.E. Mr. Krzysztof Paturej

H.E. Mr. Krzysztof PATUREJ, Chairperson of the Third Review Conference, is Ambassador Titular at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. Ambassador Paturej is experienced in multilateral diplomacy and negotiations, WMD disarmament and non-proliferation, efforts against terrorism, development and cooperation programmes, relations with stakeholders and public society, multicultural relations, results-based management, and risk management strategies.

From 2006 to 2013 Ambassador Paturej was Director of the Office of Special Projects in the OPCW Technical Secretariat. In this capacity he was responsible for coordinating the OPCW’s policies in disarmament, WMD non-proliferation, global efforts against terrorism, relations and programmes with OPWC stakeholders and international partners, and development of the OPCW’s policies on prevention and preparedness against the misuse of toxic chemicals and on chemical safety and security, inter alia. He was co-Chair of the Working Group on WMD Terrorism of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF).

From 2000 to 2006 Ambassador Paturej was Head of the Division on Non-proliferation in the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he served as national coordinator of the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) and as Poland’s Senior Representative to the G8 Global Partnership (2003-2005).

Ambassador Paturej was Poland’s Representative to the OPCW Preparatory Commission from 1994 to1997 and its Permanent Representative to the OPCW from 1997 to 2000. He served as Chairman of the OPCW’s IX Conference of States Parties in 2004–2005 and Chairman of the OPCW Executive Council in 1998-1999.
