U.S. President Obama Sends Letter of Thanks to OPCW Director-General
The President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, has sent a letter of thanks and appreciation to the OPCW Director-General, Ambassador Rogelio Pfirter, for the Director-General’s letter of congratulations on the occasion of President Obama’s electoral victory on 4 November 2008.
“I am confident that we can work together in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a more secure world during the next four years,” read the letter from the President. “I look forward to working with you in that effort.”
The Director-General sent his letter of congratulations on 6 November 2008 in which he noted the President-elect’s message calling for global cooperation for peace and progress, which “embodies the spirit of multilateralism in the effort to rid the world of chemical weapons.”
