The Government of the Republic of China and the OPCW jointly organised the 3rd Advanced Assistance and Protection Course in the Institute of Chemical Defence in Beijing from 26 to 30 May 2014. A total of 21 experts from 17 States Parties* participated with 5 observers from Myanmar.

The course offered advanced training in the use of protective equipment; in monitoring, detection and decontamination techniques in response to attacks with chemical weapons; and table-top and field exercises. Participating experts were from national emergency response agencies that deal with chemical-related incidents who had solid backgrounds in chemistry associated with assistance and protection against chemical weapons.
