The Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Projects Services (UNOPS) Visits the OPCW

The Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Ms Grete Faremo, visited the OPCW Headquarters on 19 June 2015 and met with the Director-General, Ambassador Üzümcü.

 

Ambassador Üzümcü and Ms Faremo discussed ongoing cooperation between the OPCW and UNOPS in Syria, on activities related to the destruction of 12 former chemical weapon production facilities as well as other operations carried out by the mission. Work in all area is well advanced.

UNOPS entered into a partnership arrangement with the OPCW following the completion of the mandate of the OPCW-UN Joint Mission at the end of September 2014. It plays an important role in supporting the verification and monitoring activities of the OPCW in Syria by providing in-country logistics assistance.
