OPCW Industry and Protection Forum 2007
The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), in conjunction with the International Council of Chemical Associations and the European Union, is hosting the Industry and Protection Forum (IPF) 2007. This Forum will discuss and promote the involvement of the chemical industry in the effective implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). In 2007, the OPCW is commemorating the tenth anniversary of entry into force of the CWC.
The Forum is organized for the first time, under the aegis of the OPCW in The Hague, and will bring together all key stakeholders engaged in the CWC implementation from all over the world. They include Governments, chemical industry (companies and trade associations), experts and companies involved in protection against chemical weapons, relevant international organisations, and the media.
The Forum will take place on 1st and 2nd November at the World Forum Convention Center (WFCC) in The Hague.
The Forum will discuss OPCW verification procedures and practices including sampling and analysis at chemical plants. Safety and security of chemical plants and transport logistics will also be addressed. The Forum will address the latest developments with regard to assistance and protection against chemical weapons and also discuss issues related to chemical terrorism.
The Forum will be accompanied by a non-commercial exhibition of protective equipment, as well as OPCW verification equipment.
