Minister of Economy of Slovakia Visits the OPCW

H.E. Mr. Tomáš Malatinskỳ, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Slovakia, and OPCW Director-General, Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü.

H.E. Mr. Tomáš Malatinskỳ, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Slovakia, visited the OPCW Technical Secretariat in The Hague on 21 November 2012 and met with the OPCW Director-General, Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü, and other senior officials.

The OPCW Director-General provided the Minister with an overview on the status of implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), including progress on chemical weapons destruction. He also briefed the Minister on new challenges that will arise as the destruction of existing stockpiles nears completion, especially as regards the industrial inspections regime and data monitoring as well as international cooperation activities.

The Minister reaffirmed Slovakia’s continued commitment and support, and offered Slovakia as a host for OPCW training activities. The Director-General commended Slovakia for its consistent commitment to the CWC and support for the OPCW.
