Live Agent Training Course Held in the Republic of Serbia

Monday, 01 October 2007
The Defense Ministry of the Republic of Serbia conducted a three-week training course for inspectors from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons on “live-agents.” This training was conducted at the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense Training Centre (NBCD TC) in Krusevac from 25 June to 14 July 2007, at which 42 inspectors were present.

The main objective of this training was to provide chemical weapons information and practical exercises in decontamination procedures, detection and monitoring procedures, use of protective equipment and monitoring the use of antidotes. New equipment was also used during this training course to familiarise the participants with chemical weapons decontamination and detection equipment.

The Republic of Serbia has once more confirmed its commitment and support for the object and purpose of the Convention and in this particular training course, noted the important role of the Serbian Ministry of Defense and NBCD Training Centre in providing tangible support to the OPCW Inspectorate in the training of inspectors for the realization of one of the most important tasks of the OPCW—verification of the chemical weapons destruction and their elimination from the face of this Earth.
