H.E. Mrs Ruthie Chepkoech Rono (Kenya)

H.E. Mrs Ruthie Chepkoech Rono, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kenya to the OPCW, presented her credentials to the Director-General on 12 March 2008. She is concurrently accredited as Kenya’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Ambassador Rono is a Professor and prior to her present position was Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, United States International University (USIU) in Nairobi. She was an Associate Professor at USIU from 2001 until 2007 and prior to that a Senior Lecturer at Egerton and Kenyatta University.

Ambassador Rono was a member of the Board of Governor’s Kericho Teacher’s and Kericho District Education Board from 2003 to 2007, and was a member of the Specialist Committee for Social Science and Technology in Kenya from 2000 until 2007.

Ambassador Rono has edited and co-edited several books and publications, including the African Textbook of Clinical Psychiatry and Mental Health, and Perspectives on Psychology and Community Involvement in Improving the Quality of Life for Children.

Ambassador Rono received a PhD in Research in Psychology and Education from Kenyatta University, Kenya in 1992. She earned a Master’s degree in Psychology Research Methods and Management of Education from the University of Cincinnati, USA in 1980 and a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy and psychology from Bethel College, USA in 1978.
