H.E. Mr Sa'ad Abdul Majeed Ibrahim Al-Ali (Iraq)

H.E. Mr Sa'ad Abdul Majeed Ibrahim Al-Ali, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the OPCW, presented his credentials to the Director-General on 14 June 2010. 

Ambassador Sa'ad Al Ali is a career diplomat. Prior to his present assignment he was the Advisor for the Prime Minister of Iraq and Director of the Education Office in the Prime Minister's Advisory Commission (PMAC): a Member of the Iraq National Assembly; a Lecturer in the Chemistry Department at the College of Sciences for Women, Baghdad University, including one year as Deputy Dean; and Lecturer in the Department of Medicinal Technology, Foundation of Technical Institutes, Ministry of Higher Education, including three years as Head of Department.

Ambassador Sa'ad Al Ali is the author of several books in Arabic, including "Biochemistry for Medical Technologists" (1981), "Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry" (1986) and "Development of Technical Education in Iraq" (1983), and of numerous publications in the field of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He is mentioned in the Encyclopedia of Distinguished Iraqi Figures of the Twentieth Century, published in 2002, and has participated in many national and international conferences and meetings.

Ambassador Sa'ad Al Ali holds a Ph.D degree (1976) in Biochemistry from Brunel University, United Kingdom and a B.Sc in Zoology and Microbiology (1971) from Baghdad University.
