H.E. Mr Ahmed Hassan Ahmed Walid, Permanent Representative of the Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya to the OPCW
H.E. Mr Ahmed Hassan Ahmed Walid, Permanent Representative of the Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya to the OPCW, presented his credentials to the Director-General on 30 January 2009.
Ambassador Walid has a military background specialising in nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) protection. He has been a member of the Libyan national committee for the Chemical Weapons Convention, a member of the teaching staff in the NBC protection school in Tripoli, and chief of the protective means section in the Libyan NBC protection department.
Ambassador Walid has completed an advanced course on organizing and processing data and documentation; extensive studies in the field of protection including a basic course in NBC protection in Tripoli; three special courses in the protection of troops against WMD at the Chemical Protection Academy in Moscow, and an advanced course on chemical weapons assistance and protection at the NBC College in Serbia, organized by the OPCW.
Ambassador Walid studied in the Literature Faculty at Garyounis University in Benghazi and also holds a bachelor’s degree in military science from the Military Academy in Tripoli in 1980. Besides excellent Arabic, he speaks good French and fair English.
