In cooperation with the Republic of Congo’s National Authority, the OPCW organised a Basic and an Advanced Training Course in Assistance and Protection from 2 to 13 June 2014 in Brazzaville with the participation of  29 first responders from five States Parties in Central Africa.* 

The course is the first stage of a pilot project to strengthen protective capabilities in the Central African sub-region and was conducted under the auspices of the Programme to Strengthen Cooperation with Africa (“Africa Programme”). It also facilitated the exchange of information and experiences regarding implementation of Article X of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

The course was conducted with technical and material support from the NBC-DEMUNEX Centre of Competence of the Swiss Army, and with financial support from the European Union.
