Participants at the All African Nanoscience-Nanotechnology Initiative (AANNI) for African Member States, which was held at the University of Western Cape, South Africa from 19 to 21 November 2014

Under the OPCW’s Programme to Strengthen Cooperation with Africa (“Africa Programme”), and with financial support from the Kingdom of Norway, an AANNI workshop was held at the University of Western Cape, South Africa from 19 to 21 November 2014. The workshop’s 35 participants were drawn from professional, educational and research institutions and government laboratories in 16 States Parties of the African region.

The programme was designed to enhance the participants’ capacity and knowledge in the field of nanotechnology, with particular emphasis on nanotechnology-based product development and its impact on society. The workshop also featured a presentation on nano-medicine and its toxicological effects on human health.
