The 15th Annual Workshop to Coordinate Assistance and Protection was jointly organised by the OPCW and Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, Republic of Turkey (AFAD). The meeting took place in the city of Antalya, Turkey. The workshop attended by 22 participants from 19 States Parties and one representative of UNICRI* was focused on issues related to implementation of Article X of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

 

The aim of the workshop was to review the OPCW’s activities in assistance and protection since 2014 and update plans for the future.  The update covered many aspects of Article X implementation including capacity building, and regional coordination issues.

Issues such as new capacity building initiatives, the database of experts, a potential database of equipment available in donor countries and new evaluation methodology were discussed.
