On June 22, 2004, the Non-Stockpile Chemical Materiel Program (NSCMP) dismantled two 134-foot cylindrical scrubber towers formerly used during the production of the nerve agent VX at Newport Chemical Depot, Ind. NSCMP destroyed the towers in accordance with an international treaty requiring the destruction of former chemical weapon production facilities by April 2007.
