NOTE BY THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

TIMELY COMMUNICATION OF PROTOCOL INFORMATION

TO THE PROVISIONAL TECHNICAL SECRETARIAT

BY MEMBER STATES

1. The Executive Secretary wishes to advise Member States that the volume and intensity of communication between the Preparatory Commission and Member States has increased substantially in recent months. Therefore, the Secretariat needs to be informed on a timely basis of new appointments to delegations of Member States, and of other relevant protocol changes, such as the names of new ministers of foreign affairs, the formation of new governments, etc. If the Secretariat receives prompt and accurate information on new appointments, it is able to maintain accurate communication with each Member State and, when necessary, to make the necessary corrections to its database in order to avoid possible inconvenience.

2. Delegations of Member States are requested to direct information concerning such changes to the External Relations Division (Government Relations and Political Affairs Branch).
