NOTE BY THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

PROCÈS-VERBAL OF RECTIFICATION OF THE
ORIGINAL OF THE CONVENTION

  1. Pursuant to the Commission's request at the Eleventh Session (subparagraph 11.8 of PC-XI/17) regarding the clerical errors detected in the Arabic and Russian texts of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on Their Destruction, the tables attached to PC-VI/7*/Add.1 were communicated to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, as Depositary of the Convention, in order to initiate the rectification procedure (PC-VIII/3). The Depositary notified the proposed corrections to signatory States and States which already have deposited their instrument of ratification and, in accordance with the established practice, allowed a 90-day period during which objections could be communicated to the Secretary-General. The Depositary has informed the Secretariat that no objection was raised during the 90-day period, and the corrections were duly effected on 31 December 1995. Depositary Notification C.N.454.1995.TREATIES-12 was issued on 2 February 1996, enclosing the Procès-Verbal of Rectification of the Original (Arabic and Russian Texts) of the Convention, a copy of which is annexed to this Note.

  2. The present Note shall be included with each copy of the Convention distributed in Arabic and Russian and at the next printing of the Convention these corrections shall be taken into account.
