Since
1993, the OPCW Preparatory Commission and the OPCW have released
hundreds of important documents of relevance to anyone with an interest
in the CWC and the work of the OPCW to implement this landmark international
treaty. These documents are divided into those from
The Director-General speaks on numerous official
occasions throughout the year. Key figures and world leaders
often make statements with relevance to the CWC regime.
Explanatory notes on OPCW official documents
A "C-Series"
document refers to the documentation produced and issued
during the Organisation's Conference of States Parties
and respectivelly are label suffix designation "C"
followed by a dash and a number that will indicate the event.
Therefore,
a document such as C-8/XXX.Y
refers to a document produced during the eighth session of the Conference of States Parties. The remaining of the name
refers to the nature of the document. The example shows
a "DEC" type
of document related to the decisions taken during the Conference.

Analogously,
the same naming structure is attributted to the other series of
documents:
- RC
for the documentation produced and issued durring the Review
Conference;
- S
for the documentation produced and issued by Technical
Secretariat;
- PC
and PREPCOM
for the documentation produced and issued by the Preparatory
Commission. Initially the Preparatory Commission
documents were named "PREPCOM" from series one and two
(PREPCOM1 and PREPCOM2). From series three onwards the suffix
has been revised to "PC".

is an ensemble of documents issued by the Office of the Director
General (ODG) that delivers relavant information on the Organisation's
programmes.
The Speeches
and Statements by Visiting Dignataries to the OPCW
section is a selection of documents issued by the delegations of
countries visiting the OPCW.
The OPCW
Press Releases section is a listing of all press
releases issued by the Organisation since its entry into force in
1997.
The
Chemical Weapons Convention is an instrument that took almost 20
years to be developed. Historically, several other documents have
been prepared to address the issues of chemical weapons. These documents
are located in the Relevant
Conventions section.
The UN
General Assembly Resolution 58/52 is the document
that establishes the relationship agreement between the United
Nations and the Organisation
for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
