DECISION

WITHHOLDING THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE PROSPECTIVE CASH SURPLUS FOR 2001

The Conference of the States Parties,

Mindful that a significant cash surplus is expected to arise for the year 2001,

Hereby:

1.                  Authorises the Director-General to withhold distribution of any cash surplus for the year 2001, pending further consideration of this matter at the Eighth Regular Session of the Conference;

2.                  Requests the Director-General to keep the Executive Council informed of the extent of any cash surplus for 2001; and

3.                  Recognises that the Executive Council may need to consider further action on this matter, prior to the Eighth Session of the Conference, should any urgent necessity arise.
