DECISION

APPOINTMENT OF THE FIRST

EXTERNAL AUDITOR OF THE OPCW

The Conference

Recalling that, in accordance with Article 13.1 of the OPCW Financial Regulations, the Conference shall appoint the External Auditor, who shall be the Auditor-General (or an officer holding an equivalent title) of a State Party and that such appointment shall be in the manner and for the period determined by the Conference and for a single period of not less than two years, but not exceeding six years,

Recalling further that, as indicated in C-I/DG-1 and C-I/DG-4, three nominations were received from States Parties for the External Auditor of the OPCW,

Bearing in mind that, in accordance with Article VIII, paragraphs 19 and 30 of the Convention, the Conference may delegate certain functions to the Executive Council,

Hereby:

1. Delegates to the Executive Council the authority to decide the term of appointment of the first External Auditor of the OPCW, which shall be a single period of not less than two years, but not exceeding six years.

2. Delegates to the Executive Council the authority to appoint the first External Auditor of the OPCW from among the above-mentioned three nominations received from States Parties.

3. Requests the Executive Council to report to the next session of the Conference of the States Parties the decisions taken on these matters.
