In addition to the specific activities listed above, the Director-General is conducting bilateral visits to States Parties to discuss bilateral issues and encourage support for the promotion of universality of the Convention in all relevant regions. These and other actions relating to the promotion of universal adherence to the Convention and the provision of assistance to that end, also include activities carried out  by the Secretariat in areas of implementation support, international cooperation, assistance and protection, legal assistance, as well as contacts with other relevant organisations (intergovernmental, (sub)-regional, non-governmental as appropriate), academia and the media, to raise awareness about its requirements and the benefits that States accrue when joining the Convention. These are not separately listed here.
