Marcelo Kós

Mr Marcelo Kós of Brazil was appointed Director of  the Inspectorate Division on the 21 September 2012.  

Mr Kós is a chemical engineer by education and profession. Prior to his appointment with the OPCW he was the Director of Industry and Regulatory Affairs for the Brazilian Chemical Association (ABIQUIM). He worked with a variety of engineering and project management companies in Brazil and undertook numerous assignments and roles on international matters for his government. 

As a private consultant Mr Kós participated in the international negotiating sessions for “The Future We Want”, the political outcome document of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (RIO+20). He represented the Brazilian and international chemical industry at the RIO+20 conference in June 2012 under contract with ABIQUIM. 

Mr Kós graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
