Mr Julian Tangaere
Mr Julian Tangaere was designated Acting Director of the Inspectorate on 18 December 2009. He joined the OPCW as Head of the Inspectorate’s Operations and Planning Branch in October 2007.
A logistician by profession, Mr Tangaere is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Australia and the Australian Defence Force Academy. He holds a degree from the University of New South Wales and studied at post-graduate level at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Prior to joining the OPCW, Mr Tangaere served as Head of Operations for the New Zealand Antarctic Programme, supporting scientific research projects throughout the Antarctic continent and Southern Ocean. He was a delegate to the Standing Committee on Antarctic Logistics and Operations, an advisory body to the Antarctic Treaty System.
Mr Tangaere is a citizen of New Zealand and his previous international assignments include work with United Nations missions in the Balkans and the Near East.
